Gateway = apparaat dat twee netwerken met elkaar koppelt, ook: programma dat de uitwisseling van gegevens tussen twee netwerken regelt; ter vergelijking: gateway is een intelligente router; zie ook router
GDP = Gateway Discovery Protocol; zie http://www.cisco.com
GGP = Gateway-to-Gateway Protocol, specifies how core routers (gateways) should exchange reachability and routing information; zie http://www.cisco.com
IGRP = Interior Gateway Routing Protocol; zie PC+ mrt 94
MGCP = Media Gateway Control protocol
NAE = Netware Application Engine, Netware runtime module die door toevoeging NLM dienst kan doen als Gateway, Router, netwerkbeheersysteem; zie PC+ nov 92
RCGI = Remote Common Gateway Interface; difference between CGI and RCGI is that CGI code spawns off a process per user request while RCGI code resides in memory and communicates with the HTTP service via TCP/IP; zie www.compaq.com
SGCP = Simple Gateway Control Protocol; controls Voice over IP gateways by an external call control element (called a call-agent); this has been adapted to allow SGCP to control switch ATM Circuit Emulation Service circuits; zie http://www.cisco.com
SGMP = Simple Gateway Monitoring Protocol; network management protocol that was considered for Internet standardization and later evolved into SNMP; zie ook SNMP; zie http://www.cisco.com
